0개국어, pronounced ‘yeong-gae-guk-eo’, is a modern Korean term that is often used humorously to describe someone who cannot properly use even one language, usually their native tongue. It is commonly used to describe situations in which someone who knows a foreign language to some extent begins to forget their native language, or mixes the two to the point that communication becomes awkward.
이 프로젝트는 '0개국어'라는 언어적 상태를 시각적이고 물리적인 형태로 옮겨 놓은 작업이다. 상자는 '생각의 상자’, 즉 마음의 구조를 상징한다. 이 안에는 언어와 생각들이 쌓이고 겹쳐진다. 경계 속에서 언어가 형태를 잃고, 생각은 번역되지 못한 채 맴도는 상태를 표현했다.
