“Text in Circulation, is about circulation, dissemination, audience, and designing the means of distribution, environment, and point of access of a particular body of text. This project focuses on the transmission of a message in the context of potential publics, existing or as yet uncreated.“
This project explores the relationship between text, space, and audience through the lens of editorial and distribution design. I selected Georges Perec’s Species of Spaces for its layered, observational writing style and its attention to the unnoticed structures of everyday life. Perec’s text, which navigates the spatial from the page to the street, inspired me to reconsider how physical and conceptual environments shape our encounters with language.
이 프로젝트는 편집과 유통 디자인을 통해 텍스트, 공간, 독자 사이의 관계를 탐구한다. 조르주 페렉의 『공간의 종들』을 선택한 이유는 그의 관찰적인 글쓰기와 일상의 구조에 대한 섬세한 시선 때문이다. ‘페이지’에서 ‘거리’, ‘공간’까지 확장되는 그의 책은 글을 접하는 방식에 공간이 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 다시 생각하게 한다. 책 속 빈 사각형과 레이아웃 변화를 활용해 글을 단순한 내용이 아닌, 물리적·개념적 환경 속에서 경험하도록 구성했으며, 디자인과 공간적 사고가 글의 의미를 페이지 너머로 확장하는 방식을 보여준다.
The design reflects his shifting scales—from the intimacy of a bed to abstract spaces—by incorporating the blank square from the book, inviting readers to experience the text not just as content but as something shaped by where and how it appears.
